AKB48 graduate Nakanishi Rina goes the AV route
This has been out for some time now but took me a while to write this because of the initial shock.

AKB48 graduate Nakanishi Rina, graduated on November 23rd, 2008, will be doing AV. She will debut under the name 'Rico Yamaguchi' and will be releasing a nude photobook titled [Departure] on July 13, as well as an AV DVD on August 27. She has already filmed two AVs.

This is really a shock for me. Rinatin was one of my first few oshimens along with Acchan and Sayaka. She is cute, has one of the sweetest voices in AKB, and is almost always seen happy and smiling. When I learnt of her graduation I was sad but I still had hopes for her. I expected her to go for a solo career or join another group. Maybe become a gravure idol . But AV is the last thing on my mind for her. In fact, out of all the graduated girls, I would rank Rinatin as the least possible to do AV.
I wonder what was it that made Rinatin choose this path. It could be money or fame but I doubt those were the reasons because even if they were, she could have chosen to do Gravure instead which is a less damaging career. Whatever the reason, I hope she is happy with her choice and won't look back regretting it.
One thing I am disappointed about is that she had to link her previous AKB past to her AV career. She wore a jacket with the AKB48 10nen Zakura patch (second spoiler), and for the cover of her PB (first spoiler) she wears something which bears an uncanny resemblance to those worn in Iiwake Maybe. Wait a minute... That IS the Iiwake Maybe costume!!
I'm worried about the side effects of this. Firstly, there are girls in AKB who look up to Rinatin, Takamina thinks of her as a mentor, and Amina's oshimen before she joined AKB was Rinatin. I hope that they don't do anything rash or decide to join her in the AV industry. Second, it might ruin the image of AKB. Again. AKB hasn't been doing good with these stuff lately, some of you might recall the scandal of Mariko with a AKS CEO. This won't be big news and make headlines or such, but it won't be a small matter either. I also wonder if Rinatin doing AV would affect that case. Last I heard, they were still at court battling it out.
Anyway since she decided to do this, I wish her the best of luck in it.
Oh and Happy Birthday Rinatin! Not really the best way to congratulate you but I hope you don't mind.
