発達した低気圧と前線の影響で２４日、四国や近畿は大雨となり、土砂崩れなどの被害が出た。兵庫県西脇市と宝塚市では、河川の増水で住民に避難勧告が出た。
大雨の範囲は２５日にかけて東日本から北日本に移り、海上は２６日にかけ大しけとなる恐れがあり、気象庁は警戒を呼び掛けている。
気象庁によると、２４日午後１０時までに観測された２４時間雨量は高知県馬路村の魚梁瀬で３７３・０ミリなど、１２府県の計３３地点で５月として観測史上最多を記録。
魚梁瀬の雨量は、この地点の５月の月間降水量平年値にほぼ匹敵する。
兵庫県西脇市と宝塚市は２４日、市内を流れる河川の増水で計約１８００世帯、約４５００人に避難を勧告。神戸市北区では神戸電鉄有馬線脇の山の斜面が崩れ、土砂が線路に流出、急行電車が土砂に乗り上げるなど、交通機関にも影響が出た。
気象庁によると、西日本に大雨をもたらした低気圧が東進。２５日にかけて、北日本は雷を伴い１時間に３０ミリ前後の激しい雨となる見込み。
２５日夕までの２４時間予想雨量は、北日本の多い所で１５０ミリ。東北の太平洋側や北海道で２５日までの予想最大風速は海上で２０メートル、波の高さは最大６メートルとしている。
